About the event
Dr. Deepak comes from a fisheries background with skills in aquaculture and marine fisheries. He is a fisheries science graduate from Kerala Agricultural University and did his specialization in fisheries resource management from Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai. Subsequently, he completed his Ph.D. in Fisheries Management from University College Cork, Ireland. He loves working with fisheries data, statistical modeling, and business improvement processes for problem-solving. For the last 6 years, he has been working for Paspaley, the largest pearl oyster aquaculture company in Australia. Currently, he is working as a Fisheries Research Scientist for the Northern Territory Government of Australia. He has developed a strong understanding of fisheries/ aquaculture problems around the world with many scientific publications in peer-reviewed fisheries journals. In short, he is an aquaculturist, fish biologist, and fisheries modeler. He is passionate about growing fish and practicing in his own backyard by running aquaponics systems, fish ponds, and aquariums. The talk will involve some of the lessons learned from these experiences.
